Jeweled Butterfly Egg

NOTE: This tutorial is a translation by Linda of the Photoshop tutorial here. It was written for PaintShop Pro 7. Users of versions 8 & 9 should also be able to follow it easily. You'll also need to use Animation Shop. This is because we are using a gif and we want to keep the transparent background. *Remember if you open a gif in PSP, you will have a black background. We don't want that. lol)*

FOR THIS TUTORIAL YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD A ZIP FILE WHICH INCLUDES THE GOLD OUTLINE PRESET AND THE BUTTERFLY OUTLINE. CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FILE.

YOU WILL ALSO NEED THE FOLLOWING PRESETS:
ks_gemstones (download them HERE)
ks_pave pink quartz (download it HERE)

1. Open a new image 300x300 pixels. Set your foreground to nil and background to white. Using Preset Shapes-Circle, make a circle(hold down shift and you'll get a perfect circle) If you want your egg centered, right-click; cut, right-click-paste as a new layer. Your egg will be centered . Delete the first layer. You no longer need it.
Go to EFFECTS/GEOMETRIC EFFECTS/ PERSPECTIVE-VERTICAL and enter -45 for the difference. INSTANT EGG! Lol You might want to play with the numbers to get your egg to your liking. Ctrl+A+F to select the egg, and apply ks_pave pink quartz to it, changing the height to zero and the texture bitmap slider to 50. Your egg should now look like this:

2. While still selected, go to EFFECTS/GEOMETRIC EFFECTS/PUNCH and enter 20 for effect. Again play around with the numbers if you like. Deselect(Ctrl+D).

3. Maximize "butterfly.gif". Go to Image, Resize, and use the following settings:

resize settings

4. Right-click and copy and paste the butterfly on your egg image as a new layer. While still on the butterfly layer, go to IMAGE/ROTATE 20 degrees left. Makes sure "All Layers" is not checked.

5. Go back to your egg layer and select it(Ctrl+A+F) Go to SELECTIONS/SAVE TO ALPHA CHANNEL. You don't have to name it. We'll be using this selection later in the tutorial.
Go to your butterfly layer and select it(Ctrl+A+F), and apply the ks_gold outline preset to it. Deselect (Ctrl+D).
Your image should look like this:

butterfly outline

6. With the "butterfly" layer active, use the magic wand to select the largest opening on the butterfly's body. Go to SELECTIONS/EXPAND by 1. Floodfil the selection with white. Apply any of the ks_gemstones preset to the selection. Repeat this process with each opening on the butterfly outline until you have filled them all with different colored gemstone presets. Zoom in when selecting the smaller openings.

After you've applied all your gemstones, close your egg layer (click on the eyeglasses), and making sure you are on your butterfly or gem layer, merge visible.

Here's where we'll use the Alpha Channel selection you saved earlier. Load it from the Alpha Channel to your merged layer and go to SELECTIONS/INVERT and hit delete. VOILA! Your butterfly fits your egg. Lol

Merge all layers visible and apply a cutout using these settings:
