This tutorial was created in Photoshop 7 and will also work in later versions.

FOR THIS TUTORIAL, YOU WILL NEED TO DOWNLOAD A ZIPFILE WHICH INCLUDES A DINGBAT IN .PSD FORMAT, A .PSD FILE OF SEVERAL JEWELS, AND TWO SUPERBLADEPRO PRESETS. DOWNLOAD THE ZIP HERE.

1. Open the file named "tutding.psd". Click on the layer "Shape 1" to activate it. CONTROL+left mouse click to select the dingbat. Apply ks_sparkle silver preset to the selection. Your dingbat should now look like this:

2. Under LAYER, go to NEW, LAYER. Name your new layer "gold outline". Go to EDIT, STROKE, and use the settings below:

3. CONTROL+left mouse click to select the white outline. Apply ks_gold border preset to the selection. Go to SELECT, DESELECT. Your dingbat should now look like this:

4. Open the file named "gems.psd". Click on the layer of whichever gem you want to use. CONTROL+left mouse click to select your gem. Go to EDIT, COPY. Close the file "gems.psd". Go to EDIT, PASTE to paste your gem onto the dingbat. Name your new layer "gem". Select the MOVE tool (the top-right one in the toolbar) and position your gem in the bottom opening of the dingbat, making sure it is centered. Move the "gem" layer to just above the background layer. Your dingbat should now look like this:

5. Click the eye icon for the background layer to turn it off. Go to LAYER, MERGE VISIBLE. Add a drop shadow if you like. Click the eye icon for the background layer to turn it on, and fill the background with your choice of colors. Congratulations! You're done!
